Most modern pavers are designed with a chamfered edge. This edge is designed to channel water away from your pavers and to designated drain off areas as well as keep the pavers edge protected from potential breaking. Polysand is placed below the joint to allow water to be directed away from your pavers. Polysand above this edge will negatively affect your pavers.

It depends but weather is the main factor. If you live in an area prone to rain and snow you will most likely be replacing it every 5-7 years. However, if a powerwasher is used directly on the polysand it might need to be replaced immediately. Tampering with your polysand by tooling out moss or mildew, pulling weeds or allowing ants to drill through will also speed up the replacement date.

Weeds will start to grow in abundance. Polysand will be missing from areas or will be easily able to be removed with your finger. Polysand when it is in tact will be hard to move with your finger, and will almost feel like a type of rubber.

Polysand is a combination of glue and sand designed to correctly channel water away from your pavers. Without this protection the sand bed directly under the pavers will start to shift with the introduction of any amount of water. This will cause your pavers to shift creating trip hazards and wide gaps between your pavers.

If the pavers were installed properly, it is most likely due to the polysand needing to be replaced. Another cause of moving pavers can be rodents and roots. See “Why is polysand necessary?” and “How will I know if my polysand needs to be replaced?” for more information.

Paver Restoration is the process to restore your pavers back to their original beauty. This process can involve anything from simple cleaning to a complete removal and reinstalling of your pavers. Each job is evaluated, and a recommendation is given. Polysand is only removed from jobs where it has been compromised or needs to be replaced. Hotwater powerwashing is only recommended after pavers have been weathered, and softwashing is normally recommended for newer pavers or ones that are only dirty on the surface. We can also repair moving pavers and in some cases recommend new pavers to be laid over a particular area, or cap to be replaced in a wall or steps.

Yes, we repair segmented retaining walls only. You can always send us a picture of your wall to see if it is something we can repair if you are unsure of what kind of wall it is.

Sealing is not required. Sealing will however prevent stains from penetrating through the pavers, keeping them looking better longer and cleaner.

Each property will be different in life span of sealer due to weather, sun, usage and other such factors. The sealer roughly needs to be replaced every 2-5 years.

Yes, however due to the nature of pavers it will not keep mold, mildew and moss from coming back quickly. We recommend our yearly maintenance program, that includes treatment to take care of these pesky problems.

We offer a yearly maintenance program for pavers that are cleaned and sealed by us on your first visit. Each year you are with us we will provide two scheduled cleanings, including a pretreatment for mold, mildew and moss to keep them from attaching to your pavers and unlimited service calls. If you have kept our yearly maintenance program your next sealing will be half price. Sealer replacement will be monitored by our cleaning crew and you will be notified of when it is recommended (each property will be different in life span of sealer due to weather, sun, usage, along with other factors but is normally replaced every 2-5 years).

Powerwashing can remove polysand from your joints and compromises your pavers integrity. It can also cause wear and tear on your pavers.
